![]() ![]() Ingredients: (makes 1 dozen with extra frosting) Red Velvet Cupcakes: (Recipe modified from one of my faves by the kitchn) Race on over to the recipes below to make your own. The quantity can easily be halved or doubled depending on your party size, and if you need to make a large batch in a flash you can cut down on decorating by swirling the 2 frosting colors onto the tops of your cupcakes and topping with lots of gold sprinkles. Save time by starting with your favorite red velvet cupcake mix or swap out the melted wafers for fondant or decorating icing, if you prefer. Topped with silky smooth vanilla American Buttercream (one of my family’s most loved recipes), and decorated using colorful melted chocolate wafers, these treats are sure to fly off the dessert table at your next Sonic inspired party! The character designs are a literal piece of cake with the help of the attached template (no need to free hand the faces unless you want to), and you can customize however you’d like. The fluffy, moist red velvet cupcakes are a nod to Sonic’s favorite color. In celebration of the new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie release I teamed up with my friends, good2grow, to create this special party treat inspired by their cute Sonic and Tails spill-proof juice character tops. With his lightning-fast speed and adorable blue quills Sonic was always a favorite of mine as well, and I’m so happy to see that my nephews and friend’s kids still love him as much as we did. I love when I get to revisit characters from my childhood in my food art! My younger brother used to be obsessed with Sonic and during the few moments he wasn’t playing I would try to sneak in a game (or ten ☺). All words, images, and opinions are my own. But there are so many different colors and types of Chaos Emeralds in the comic universe, and Sonic the Hedgehog's time on Thoraxia proves that they most likely can unlock a whole host of other types of transformations just like the red gemstones did.*This post was created in collaboration with good2grow. This is exactly what happens when Sonic absorbs the green gemstones on Mobius. Sonic can only collect one group of multi-colored Chaos Emeralds in the games and this just results in the blue hedgehog transforming into Super Sonic. This is just another example of why the comics will always be more interesting than any other medium. Of course, this is where the comics greatly diverge from the games as no Chaos Emerald is the same color in the latter. The only tragedy is that the series was discontinued before Sonic could experience all the various ways that the other differently colored Chaos Emeralds affected him. But in this case, shrouding them in ambiguity was the right choice much like how the history of the green gemstones on Mobius is also unknown. Like other aspects of Archie Comics' discontinued series, the origin of these red Chaos Emeralds remains a mystery. For their power is only temporary, and the evil clone soon dissipates into nothing just like how Super Sonic always reverts back to his normal form after he runs out of Chaos energy. ![]() It's undeniable that the clone would have triumphed had these alien Chaos Emeralds not shared the same properties as the green gemstones from Mobius. Sonic, of course, stops him before he has the chance to carry out his dastardly scheme, but, from that moment on, Sonic is at the complete mercy of his evil clone who beats him mercilessly. When Sonic confronts him, the clone decides that the best way to prove his resolve is to destroy the planet's two moons. It turns out that this other hedgehog didn't kill the Bzzzz to save the Blodex. It was a superpowered clone while the real Sonic was forced to watch from the sidelines. Sonic, being the nice hedgehog that he is, absorbs the red Chaos Emeralds to take them on and appears to kill the queen and all of her minions in an instant. ![]()
